North Redondo - El Nido Info

Bounded by Ripley Avenue to the west and the north, the railroad tracks east of Inglewood Avenue and 190th Street to the south, the southeast quadrant of North Redondo, named El Nido after a neighborhood park, is made up primarily of small single family homes built in the postwar period of 1948 – 1969. 

Full lots typically run about 5,000 sqft (50×100).  As for the homes themselves, many still have the original floor plans, with interior living space ranging from 900-1100 square feet, which leaves open the possibility of adding on and remodeling (see lead photo above).

There are also a few pockets of relatively new development, such as the couple dozen, 3000 sqft homes built by Anastasi Development in 2000 (see photo to the right). 

Located just west of Hawthorne Boulevard, the El Nido area is a perfect location for access to shopping malls and freeway onramps. The South Bay Galleria, local shopping mall, is almost within walking distance.

School Info

The schools that service El Nido are (principally) Washington Elementary and Adams Middle schools.  A pocket of homes in the western corner of El Nido are in the Jefferson Elementary and Parras Middle school zones.  Naturally, the high school is Redondo Union.

The 3-year average scores for these schools, set forth below, are based on their 2011-2013 Academic Performance Index (API) scores.  The API is an annual measure of a school's test score performance calculated by the California Department of Education and is a single number on a scale of 200 to 1,000 that indicates how well students in a school performed on the previous spring’s tests.
