The Manhattan Beach City Council met August 21 and approved the draft "Five-Year Plan to Address Homelessness in Our Community."  Here are the key takeaways from that council meeting's discussion of the plan.

The current draft proposal to address homelessness in Manhattan Beach is up for discussion and comment at the next City Council meeting, August 21.  The proposal is long on generalities, short on specifics and, worst of all, seems to de-emphasize enforcement of existing city ordinances.  Could make for an interesting meeting.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions (Part Deux).  Nowhere is that more evident than in the impact of the Supreme Court's ruling on California prisons and the 2014 voter-approved Proposition 47 on property crimes in Los Angeles County and the South Bay.

New ballot initiative seeks to overturn California state rent control law by imposing even more stringent controls wherever rent control is adopted.  Even greater housing shortages and more homelessness to follow.  As they say, the road to hell is paved with good intentions.
