Safest Cities in the South Bay

We're interested in seeing the latest safety stats for California cities, as prepared by ValuePenguin, the personal finance and research website. ValuePenguin analyzes the most recent FBI Crime Report, which is typically released in late summer, to determine the safety of California's 417 cities.
Note that the latest calendar year figures available from the FBI are actually two years in arrears so the 2016 rankings prepared by ValuePenguin are based on 2014 FBI crime statistics, 2015 are based on the 2013 numbers, etc. We hope to see the 2017 rankings shortly, which will undoubtedly be based on the FBI's data from 2015.
Of particular interest to us at RealEstateEdge.com is the trend for the beach cities and surrounding cities in the South Bay. For example, most of the cities surveyed actually dropped in the rankings for the 2015-2016 period but Rancho Palos Verdes and Palos Verdes Estates improved and Redondo Beach stayed the same (fyi, violent crimes are weighted heavier than property crimes in these rankings).
Below are our local cities, ranked from safest to least safe based on their 2016 rankings. We'll update this article as soon as the 2017 figures are released.
City | Rank - 2015 / 2016 | Population | Violent Crimes / 100,000 | Property Crimes / 100,000 |
