North Redondo - Villas North Info
The Villas North section of North Redondo is bounded by Aviation Boulevard to the west, Inglewood Avenue to the east, Marine Avenue to the north and Artesia Boulevard to the south and is comprised primarily of townhomes and some single family residences.
Villas North is considered to be one of the more desirable areas of North Redondo, due in part to its close proximity to Manhattan Beach which lies just to the west on the other side of Aviation Boulevard. It includes Anderson Park and extends south to the shops on the north side of Artesia Boulevard, as well as the nicely-designed and relatively new (built in '09) 48-unit Montecito seniors' condo complex (pictured here).
Like most of the area, Redondo Beach was developed post World War II. The majority of the buyers at that time worked at many of the local aerospace companies.
In fact, the northeastern quadrant is known as the TRW tract, deriving its name from its proximity to the TRW aerospace complex located nearby. The TRW tract is zoned R1 (single family), with lots measuring an average of 5,000 square feet but, in some cases, extending well beyond that. The average home size here is approximately 1400 square feet (see pictured home for an example) - although, again, as throughout the South Bay, larger new construction is evident - and these homes are modest in price compared to most of the Beach Cities.
